Guess where we are!!!!!
Texas Welcome Center!!!!!
Since Austin, Texas was packed because of new track that they built and were having a Formula 1 race, we decided to head south to Corpus Christi, Texas.

After driving 8 hours on HIghway 59 we stopped at Lazy Longhorn Campground in Victoria, Texas. Victoria is about 2 hours north of Corpus Christi. Temps were in the 70's and 80's. We met other campers from Kansas, Wyoming, Pennsylvania.
This is a good size city with lots of trains running through (nothing to see 150 train cars behind engine). We spent just a couple of nights here.
Then headed to Corpus Christi, TX which is located on the Gulf of Mexico.

Speed limit is 75 mph on back road so were arrived in no time. We are staying at the Colonia Del Rey Campground just outside of town. The campground is located just before you cross over onto The Island (Padre).  We are on site 17 and have neighors from Texas, Canada and Oregon among other states. Also at night there are cayotes wandering around, so Thumper is definitely kept on leash.
We cooked Thanksgiving dinner for us. Definitely a unique experience when you are used to cooking for family members. At least weather was beautiful!!!!
Took Thumper to the beach!!! She wasn't going near the water. Like Daytona and St. Augustine, FL you can drive on the beach, dogs allowed on beach, and campfires are also allowed. We got a beach pass so we good for a year!  IF you don't have the beach pass, police can ticket you for a lot more than the $12.00 for beach pass.
While some were staring Christmas shopping, Skip saw an ad for a Gun Show!!! Off we go!!!!This was an experience. I have never seen so many guns in one place, and I ended up walking out with a 12 gauge sawed off shotgun. Skip said we needed it since talking to other campers who have encountered local wild life.

Regretfully, we left New Orleans. We are heading to Breaux Bridge, LA - Crawfish Capital!!!!! I don't care about crawfish. I am just happy to be going to Poche's Fish and RV Park. I can stroll around the ponds and get lots of attention of other campers and horses.

Sue and Skip were out eating oysters, crawfish, shrimp, alligator and whatever. I was happening handing around fish pond

Left Arkansas and backtracked according to Skip heading southeast to New Orleans. After going thru Mississippi, we spent one night in Independence, LA at Indian Creek Campground. Lots of trees. Skip could not get satellite - but that is okay - we had CD of Elvis in Hawaii to watch.
We arrived in New Orleans on 11/8/12 - staying at Ponchatrain RV Park (in industrial 9th ward). On the intercoastal between Lake Ponchatrain and Mississippi River. We have stayed here before.
Happy to be in the land of beignets, Bourbon Street, jazz, and football!!!!!
First place I always head to is Cafe Beignet - need my beignets (fried dough covered in powdered sugar). Afterwards just walked around listening to music and popping in at a few stores. Beautiful day to walk along Mississippi River. Love this place!!!!!

Musician at Jackson Square

Bourbon Street

Dinner was at the Red Fish Grille on Canal and Bourbon Street. We both had fish and it was excellent.

Sunday was game day at Superdome - New Orleans Saints v. undefeated Falcons.
We had a great time. Seats were up in the rafters but didn't matter. Fans party all over the Superdome!!!! Turned out to be a great game (Saints beat Falcons!!!!). Fans yell loud and sing loud!!!! Everyone hi-fi's touchdowns and everyone hugs each other!!!! Great way to spend a day in New Orleans!!!!I got to rest and guard motorhome and get biscuits from the gentleman who brought us to our sight!  I love this place. Get treated like a queen!!!!!!

foot bridge over Arkansas River
We arrived in Little Rock, Arkansas. Downtown Campground is located in North Little Rock, directly on the Arkansas River and also across from the Clinton Presidential Library. An old railroad trestle has been converted to a foot bridge. We are able to walk to Library.
front of Clinton Presidential Library

The tour takes you through a film narrated by
Pres. Clinton, as well as his Cabinet Room and his Oval Office
set up. The Presidential Library is full of memorabilia.

Skip at head of Cabinet!!!!

President Skip and his seal!!!!!!!
Some of the pictures from inside. The outside grounds are beautiful with trails to walk on.
It's my day of rest!!!! Besides, I'm a Republican
and will wait to see Reagan's library

Have been busy travelling the past few days. After leaving Manchester, TN we headed west across Tennessee and pulled into Memphis for the night. On the highway, we saw a few caravans of bucket trucks heading north to assist those in New York, New Jersey, and Connecticut. We stayed at Elvis Presley Campground which is at the end of Lonely Street behind the Heartbreak Hotel. We have stayed here before. If you are an Elvis fan, you'll enjoy it. Unfortunately, my camera is acting up so I cannot download any pictures. This has been a bummer.

As before, we ate at Marlowe's Barbecue. The restaurant will send a pink cadillac limo to pick you up and return you to wherever you are staying. We shared the limo to the restaurant with a couple from Ireland. They literally had just arrived. They were spending a few days in Memphis then heading to Las Vegas. Graceland is a big destination for Europeans. On our return from the restaurant, we shared the limo with two guys from Texas. They told us where to eat in Austin. The guys loved the idea of travelling around the United States. We mentioned that we were heading to Little Rock, Arkansas. Our limo driver suggested that we should go to Hot Springs, Arkansas. It is a nice town with the thermal baths.

So on leaving Memphis Friday morning, we headed to Hot Springs, Arkansas. Lots of farmland on the way. We pulled into Hot Springs KOA for a couple of nights.Took a ride into town. Cute little town. Saw where the baths & spas are located. We stopped for dinner at the The Brickhouse Grille. Excellent steaks. You could slice through them with a fork.

Today, we headed to the Quapaw Baths & Spa. This place has thermal water soaking pools. All water comes from the underground. Skip went dowstairs to their sauna. He said literally it was a cave and water runs down letting of steam. All you need to bring is your bathsuit and wear flip flops. I also had a foot massage therapy. Delightful!!!!

Had lunch across the street at Andrew's. This is New Orleans cuisine. I had creole sampler platter and Skip had the red rice and beans. Very good!!! The only bummer was that they were out of their beignets!!! My favorite dessert.

Thumper has been busy trying to catch rabbits. Rabbits are winning.

We plan on leaving tomorrow to visit Little Rock, Arkansas, then head to Louisianna
