We discovered Roswell to be a good size city. Besides the UFO theory that probably brings in the tourism, the city is diversified with dairy, agriculture, manufacturing, aviation, homeland defense training, film production, and art galleries. One gallery named The Gallery showcases local artists. Found interesting pieces there.
one of the local artists
Artists are also on the premises.
We took a side trip one day to Ruidoso which is west of Roswell on the southern end of the Rocky Mountains. Another beautiful drive.
Most of its business is in the winter - plenty of places to stay for the skiers. There are also 2 casinos in town and a race trace - Ruidoso Downs - which is the only horse track in the U.S. that has a separate quarter horse straightaway and oval thoroughbred tracks. As you can see, the Billy the Kid Casino is located on the premises. Amazed at the number of casinos we come across as we travel around the United States.
On the way back, stopped at local antique market. Skip took Thumper for a stroll around the grounds while I strolled the shop.
lots of goodies here!!!
