On our way to Oregon, we stopped in Crescent City, CA for a few days. The town reminded us of the fishing towns in Rhode Island. We stayed at the Crescent City KOA.

This became Thumper's favorite place. They have their own redwood forest, which Thumper would walk through every day. Since the weather was sunny and warm, we also enjoyed the beach.
  Tsunami that struck Japan two years ago also struck Crescent City and Brookings, Oregon. Both towns had major damage to their docks. According to a waitress, it was an 8 foot tsunami that game in to Crescent. It was low tide when it hit, otherwise damage could have been much worse.

   One day we took and excursion to the Mystery of the Trees which includes a walk along the trail through redwoods and a sky ride over the trees to an observation deck.
